Lately our local newspaper are reporting news about so called Mat Rempit invading our nation highways and roads. Mat Rempit itself is a term given to them as “illegal street racers). I’m sure almost 99% of th publics wanted to get them off the roads. This is no longer called as “sports” where they are not racing only but pulling dangerous stunts on the road. Some of the articels or user posted at blog.thestar.com.my which “support” them by saying giving them an ear, Mat Rempits know how to take care themselves or even Mat Rempits themselves voicing their “DEMANDS” !! All are just bullshit to me…Mat Rempits are giving lame, yeah i really mean LAME excuses for example, the fees at current racing track expensive to them, tracks are too far from city, or even try to prove that they’re not society trash by saying some of them even HAD foreign degress!! OMG!!

Mat Rempit says clearly that they WONT STOP unless the government need to legitimise their “sports” and build tracks for them.

If you read all the past articles available from TheStar Online, there’s some road user scared of getting near the Mat Rempits on the road, as they scared if they knocked 1 of them down “accidentally”, they might end up getting beaten.

” A group of Mat Rempits was once reported to have used a fire extinguisher to spray foam onto the windscreen of a motorist’s car, all because the driver of the car dared to overtake them…..

…A motorist who wished to be named only as Keith B. said he had encountered groups of Mat Rempits at least 10 times on the Penchala Link alone. “These bikers occupy the whole road while they perform all sorts of stunts and they never let me pass. “I’m a careful driver, so I always keep my distance from them for fear of knocking them down. “These groups are usually made up of around 50 bikers. I’m definitely afraid of being beaten up by them should I knock into any one of them,” he confessed.

” - (Quoted from Road bullies on bikes)

Now, personally, i’ve experienced it having those Mat Rempits on the roads. For those staying at Penang island, i’m sure they’ll know this famous spot for Mat Rempit, the Greenlane main road. That night, i was at Petronas, Greenlane to top up my Touch N Go card before i drove back to my house which is located at Butterworth. As soon i going to leave the petrol station, i sense something different as there’re a lot of bikers gathering at the petrol station.

After i turned out to Greenlane road, i was driving as normal. However, i saw at my rear mirror, a lot of bikers riding very fast as if they’re on racing track !! At that time, which was about 12 something am, there was not many car. I had to drive carefully and keep my car on the same lane and don’t dare to change lane unless i’m sure those Mat Rempits no longer coming from behind my car. But things getting from bad to worse, there were too many Mat Rempits coming from behind my car. Slowly, i made signal and stop by the road side. I even saw a group os spectators in their bikes parked their bikes nicely on the opposite road’s petrol station, Shell. I had to stop driving to ensure i don’t knock any of them down because they’re riding their bikes recklessly. After a while, i saw 1 police’s Proton Waja coming from opposite direction with siren on chasing away those Mat Rempits.

I think if the police really REALLY wanted to catch all those Mat Rempit, they should not only send out 1 police patrol car to the scene which i guess is only to “scare” off those Mat Rempits. The police should work together with the road transport, JPJ to set up blocks and arrest all of them back. Not just come and chase them, and that’s all. Mat Rempits are on bikes and police on car, they can disperse to sub-roads very fast, i mean REALLY FAST. The police totally cant able to catch them.

My advise to road users encounter with Mat Rempits on the roads:-
1) Drive safely and carefully, keep a really safe distance from the Mat Rempits in front of you. (2 seconds method don’t work anymore as you learned during getting your license)

2) NEVER change lane if there’e a lot of Mat Rempits coming from behind your car. Act according to the situation, if there’s too many, try to stop your car by the road side to avoid any accident might occur.

3) If you ever “accidentally” knock any 1 of the Mat Rempits, NEVER stop your car and come down. You might end up beaten by the rest of Mat Rempits. If your car still can start, drive to the nearest police station to make police report. Otherwise, stay inside your car locked and phone to police station.

4) If you ever need to change lane during Mat Rempits racing in front and behind your car, you must SEE CLEARLY before changing lane because Mat Rempits travelling in convoys act as if they’re VIP and force the other road users to slow down.

5) NEVER try to overtake Mat Rempits although you’re pissed off by their attitude. Reason >
A group of Mat Rempits was once reported to have used a fire extinguisher to spray foam onto the windscreen of a motorist’s car, all because the driver of the car dared to overtake them. ” - (Quoted from Road bullies on bikes)

It is extremely dangerous for those stunts to be done. They won’t know the risk of doing that until they met with an accident. And by the time, the one who suffer is their parents too.

p/s - Their stunts are somewhat cool. I never seen anyone riding a motorcycle standing.

2

yup, agree with vincent…however those ppl really don’t appreciate their life 1…doing dangerous stunt without proper protection = death and not something to be proud of, as more and more mat rempit videos available on net, this prove that they feel ‘proud’ with the fame they gain and no regrets…zzz

I will say a big NO to Mat Rempit.
I have no idea why someone will want to glamourised their act.

Few points of note

1) DEMANDS - who are they to make demands? who are they to demand for a track to meet their needs? They are NOT a community of people which contribute benefits to the nation with their activities.

2) THREATS - making idle threats demanding for things to suit their needs or they would continue to do what they do which endangers others. Though not terrorists, such demands and threats should be dealth with and not taken lightly.

3) MENACE - illegal racing, menaces on the road etc, acts of violence to other road users including other motorcyclist and disrespect to the law enforcement department. I do not mean to offend nor to cause racial disharmony… but if this group of people comprised of the other races there would be no such talk of compromise.

4) RIDICULOUS - it is ridiculous to see that there are parties willing to bend or to make peace with them. Bending for the better to achieve something which benefits is a welcome idea. Bending OVER to a group of people who are threats on the road which do nothing but endanger others and continue to appear in the papers by slaying one another in arguements owing to the clipping of another riders bike etc.?!?!?!? COME ON!

5) OBSERVATION - it will be interesting to see the developments in regards to this issue in the next couple of months. How the law will take action against them, what ridiculous resolve will come out of negotiations initiated by a certain party

IN SHORT… not only do i support the NO NOTION… i would support a DOWN WITH THEM notion for being so brazen even with ‘educated minds’ amongst them.

If you see a group of Mat Rempits…RUN THEM OVER! Especially if you’re driving a big, heavy car. If they refuse to move, drive through them. These people are not worth living. We’ll be doing them a favour and giving jobs to the guys working at funeral homes.

It’s kinda “mean” but sometimes you’ll have this feeling, I understand.
If they want to perform their stunt, go and join the stunt team.
If they want to race, the race track is always there.
BUT not on the roads because ROADS not belongs to them!!

You’re afraid of getting… beat up by skinny little Malaysian guys? Just hit them. Hard, preferably. I’ve seen enough of the little pricks do damage to people’s cars and keep riding along; hit and run, no care in the world. Malaysia has no law; take advantage of that fact and fight back against those who think they are above the law or common decency. The notion is hypocritical, but in a nation where the police force is funded on bribes, the least you can do is put a little fear back into these little shits.

Malaysians = slowest, most aggressive drivers of any country I’ve lived in. And forget about turn signals. If one of you guys actually have a turn signal, it has been on and blinking since you first bought the car to test it out.

i think all mat rempits in malaysia now r so big headed.too much attention we give to them, they are shouting for us(community) to pay attention to them, clearly we see, they are not helping themselves, why we should help them, this moto hidup mat rempit, berani buat berani tanggung,oh come on mat rempit, live is not that easy,we are not kolot punye society,we are developing country, all the mat rempit should change themselves 1st,u want to be people to respect you,u have to earn it,not on the public roads, try to involve in the race,i mean a formal race where ur safety can be guarantee, learn how to be a real racer,be discipline,if u die or being disable after crashing urself on the road,it involve people around u,of course not ur rempit frens,ur family i mean. For all mat rempit out there, we can accept u but please change ur fucking attitude 1st!
